SUBMISSION NO.8

I’m participating in the student body elections this year. I hate to do this, running against one of my good friends, expecting that even though people in my friend group would have to pick sides, it would still be a positive, clean, and supportive campaign.

I was wrong about this. Throughout the week, I've heard comments saying that I would be the worst at this job, to “they would be a better choice for the position.” That really stuck to me, especially how it came from one of my “friends.” In this week alone, I've been more stressed, my self-esteem’s gone down, and now I just feel like nobody’s there to support me. Why does this campaign have to be so negative in order to promote somebody else’s campaign? It’s pointless.
